For County Wide:
The Machias Veterans Home brought the following veterans: Bob Hall, Richard Grant, Ed Browne, Keith Smith and Cheif King to the Memorial Day Program held at Narraguagus Jr/Sr High School, May 24, 2019.
The following write up was in the program.
Sgt Edward K Brown was an aerial gunner in a B-17 bomber that was shot down over Frankfurt, Germany in the spring of 1944. The aircraft made a crash landing, where all crew members survived, but became prisoners of war. After the crash landing of the plane, the crew were swarmed by civilians who beat them before they were taken prisoner by the Germany Army. For 10 months Brown and his fellow crew members were POWS of the Germans, until being liberated by Russian troops. Mr. Brown received the Maine Silver Star in 2012 for his service and time as a POW, Mr Brown currently resides in the Machias Veterans Home and will turn 100 on June 25th.

Out and About
One more week and school will be out for the summer break. I know the kids are looking forward to having some fun this summer. Hopefully they will be busy and not to bored. I am looking forward to doing some fun things myself and going places.
Carroll and I were in Ellsworth on Tuesday for his appointment, it was a quick trip but we did enjoy a meal at Governors before returning home.
On Thursday I met up with Nancy Pike and her mother Jeannette Smith at 44 Degree North restaurant in Milbridge for a nice meal. A pleasant way to spend an evening with great company.
It won’t be long before Steve and Jan Morrisons return to their cottage in Milbridge for the season. It will be nice to see them again.
Saturday afternoon June 8, I attended the Celebrating Charlie Harrinton – Graduation Party at the Maine Seacoast Mission Downeast Community Campus , Cherryfield, Maine.
The unveiling of Charlie’s Challenge statue took place during the celebration. Charlie Harrington was the Founding Director of EdGe. Following the celebration The Crown Vics a favorite dance band played till 7 pm. Many folks gathered to wish him the best and will surely miss him as the head of the EdGe Program for 18 years.
On Sunday Michelle McLaughlin and I attended the bridal shower of my granddaughter Jasmine St. Pierre in Levant and then the Celebration of Life of Dixie Cirone in Harrington in the afternoon. It does not seem possible that my oldest granddaughter is getting married next month.
Get well wishes to Gwen Grant and David McLaughlin of Harrington.
