A benefit spaghetti supper will be held for the Church family, Friday May 18, 2012 at 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Columbia Town Hall, Columbia, Maine. This supper is sponsored by the DW Merritt Parent Support Group, Girl Scout Troop 380 and the Cub Scout Pack 137. If you would like to make donations or volunteer for the supper contact Donna Haire at 598-5953 or Debbie Lovejoy at 483-9731. On Wednesday Michelle McLaughlin and I were in Portland for a doctor’s appointment, it made a long day for the both of us. Then on Saturday Carroll and I were shopping in Bangor and Ellsworth another long day for me. Lori Mathew of Milbridge held a Pampered Chef party on Sunday afternoon at her home on the Kansas Road. As usual the items that were made for us to taste were delicious. Afterwards I delivered some dandelions to Bonnie Sproul in Cherryfield that I had freshly picked for her. T-Ball has started up for our grandson Konner Strout; his first game will be this coming Wednesday. It seems like yesterday that we were doing the same thing for his father. Condolences go out to the family of Dana Kennedy of Harrington and get well wishes go out to Sherrill Redimarker of Addison, Alfred Moore and Fred Prince of Columbia Falls. This week I received a packet in the mail from a fellow genealogist, with pictures of folks from the Addison area we think. These photos are connected to the Merritt, Hinckley, Preble, MacFarland families of Pleasant River area. In the packet was an articled of Alonzo H. Merritt death and of Captain Elmer E. MacFarland and a marriage announcement of Miss Louise Rebecca Burns to Mr. Warren Hinckley Preble on 29 Oct 1920. I found a picture of Etta and Clifton MacFarland and one of Alfred and Laura Davis on their fiftieth wedding anniversary in 1912. Only one photo in the packet was unidentified. I found information on Alonzo H. Merritt son of Albert Merritt and Frances Helen Ames, and he had two sisters Elizabeth who married a Davis and Frances M. who married first Daniel Schoppe Thompson and second George T. Kitching. I see that he married Caroline and had two daughters Esther and Anne Merritt. I have no further info on them. The info on Captain Elmer E. MacFarland says he married Jennie Cavanaugh and was survived by nephew Capt. Waldo Merritt. I found no information on Alfred and Laura Davis. If anyone would like to see this packet, give me a call.
